2. Connecting your payment provider

A Lesson by Benjamin Dell (Founder & CEO, HeySummit)

In this video, we address the payment providers available for collecting revenue for events. Currently, we support Stripe and PayPal, and the choice depends on individual preference and market needs. While connecting a payment provider isn't necessary for free events, it's essential for paid events to enable ticket sales, add-ons, and donations. Although tickets and add-ons can be created beforehand, they cannot be published until a payment method is connected. If you're unsure which provider to use during setup, you can decide later, but it's required before publishing the event. If you don't have a preference, Stripe is generally recommended for its robustness and smoother user experience, though it's subjective and market-dependent. Ultimately, it's best to use the payment provider you're already familiar and comfortable with.

Key takeaways:

  • Stripe and PayPal are the supported payment providers for collecting revenue.
  • Connecting a payment provider is required for publishing paid events.
  • Payment methods can be connected later, but must be connected before publishing.
  • Stripe is generally recommended for its robust platform and user experience.
  • Choose the payment provider you are most familiar and comfortable with.
